Future Plans and Community Involvement
Future Plans
For years Brothers Keeper has had a vision to build transitional housing coupled with support services to help homeless families get back on their feet. Recently we have partnered with Interfaith Emergency Services to find a way to build this housing and to establish a day pavilion and safe haven for the chronically homeless. Keep this huge project in your prayers.
We are also exploring ways to combine some our services, such as emergency food distribution and holiday baskets with other agencies. With a “one-stop” location and case management maybe we can avoid duplication and get some families closer to self-sufficiency.
We are actively working with the Marion County United Way to find ways of community impact in the areas of jobs, affordable housing, and homeless prevention.
Community Involvement
Brothers Keeper is an active member of our community. We are constantly looking for ways to solve the problems of the poor, homeless, and marginalized rather than just continuing to put “band-aids” on social problems.
Some of the ways that Brothers Keeper works for the poor in our community are:
- Board Member of Community With a Heart
- Childhood Development Early Learning Partner
- Member and past officer of Marion County Homeless Council
- Marion County Continuum of Care
- United Way Partner
- United Way Community Impact Advisory Board
- Board Member of Catholic Charities of
Central Florida - Blessed Trinity Uganda Mission Board
- Board member of Marion County Habitat
For Humanity - Member of First Step Food Bank
